KIEV, November 29. /ITAR-TASS/. Supporter of Ukraine’s ruling Party of Regions gathered on Friday in Kiev’s central European Square to voice their support to President Viktor Yanukovich, who has decided not to sign the Association Agreement with the European Union at the Eastern Partnership summit currently underway in the Lithuanian capital city Vilnius.The rally that drew more than 10,000 participants was held under the slogan Let Us Build Europe in Ukraine. The rally passed a resolution, which was read out by leader of the Party of Regions parliamentary faction Alexander Yefremov. The resolution reiterated Ukraine’s course towards European integration. At the same time, Yefremov stressed that Ukraine was not seeking integration “at any cost.” “We shall defend our national interests,” he said.
The document urges the European Union to provide financial assistance to Ukraine and demands a three-party talks be held between Ukraine, the European Union and Russia.
