CAIRO, November 24, 15:02 /ITAR-TASS/. Official Damascus welcomes the historic agreement on the Iranian nuclear programme, Syria’s foreign ministry said on Sunday.
“Syria welcomes the agreement between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the international group of five-plus-one /Sextet/,” the SANA news agency quoted the foreign ministry‘s communiquй as reading. “This is a historic agreement, which guarantees observation of the interests of the friendly Iranian people and recognises its right for a peaceful use of the nuclear energy.”
“Syria is sure the achievement of the agreement of the kind proves political settlements of crises in the region are best means to guarantee the security and stability there, avoiding foreign interference or threats of use of force,” the statement reads. “It opens ways for the international efforts, aimed at removing from the Middle East of all kinds of mass destruction weapons, especially after Damascus has joined the Convention on banning chemical weapons.
