NASA sends new probe to Mars

Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution Mission was designed and built by Lockheed Martin

November 18, /ITAR-TASS/. An Atlas V carrier rocket with MAVEN (Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution Mission) abroad was launched from Cape Canaveral, Florida, on Monday, November 18, marking the start of NASA’s tenth Mars mission.

MAVEN was designed and built by Lockheed Martin.

“MAVEN will take critical measurements of the Martian upper atmosphere to help scientists understand climate change over the Red Planet's history,” NASA said.
