Libyan rebels announce state of emergency amid general strike in Tripoli

As many as 45 people were killed and 460 people were injured in the clashes in central Tripoli's district of Gargur

BEIRUT, November 17, /ITAR-TASS/. The headquarters of Libyan formations of rebels that is subordinate to the General National Congress, Libya’s parliament, has introduced the state of emergency for 48 hours in Tripoli, Libya’s capital. According to the reports coming from Tripoli, the authorities have taken this step to stop bloodshed between the law enforcement agencies and the Eagles of Misrata armed militants, who refuse to withdraw their militants from the city.

As many as 45 people were killed and 460 people were injured in the clashes in central Tripoli's district of Gargur during the past day.

On Sunday, Tripoli went on a 3-day general strike, which also pursues the goal to stop bloodshed, the TV channel Al Jazeera reported.

Libyan Prime Minister Ali Zeidan urged the former revolutionaries to refrain from sending armed units in the city that “may result in massacre.
