Lavrov: adoption in the United States is dangerous for children

Russia's Foreign Minister highlights that America breaks record in the number of violations in the field of adoption

PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKIY, November 16. /ITAR-TASS/. Moscow sees no real results of Washington’s actions to resolve the issue with adopted children. Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov declared during TV show “Postscriptum” that “American side admits the need to sort out the mess of the adoption situation. So far we see no actual results.”

“We’ve launched an investigation into the matter after highly publicized cases involving Russia’s orphans into American adoption situation, not limited to children from Russia. It’s a very sad situation. It’s probably an absolute record in terms of the amount of violations in the field of adoption and the number of cases of violence against children per capita,” Lavrov noted.

Russia’s Foreign Minister said that Russian experts examined data provided by American human rights organizations, which “sound the alarm” as adoption in the United States is often dangerous for the adopted children.
