MOSCOW, November 14, 12:12 /ITAR-TASS/. Fugitive Russian business tycoon Sergei Polonsky will brought back to Russia within a day, if the court rules to extradite him, lawyer of the former head of Mirax Aleksander Karabanov told reporters here on Thursday. The lawyer recalled that a trial over the extradition of his client to Russia is to be held in Cambodia on Thursday. In his words, Polonsky’s lawyer does his best to obtain his release from custody, particularly he intends to offer a bail to the court, the sum of which is not disclosed.
Karabanov also added that according to the Interpol rules Polonsky could have been kept in custody only for 48 hours. “This period of time already expired, therefore, it is not quite clear why he is still being kept in custody,” the lawyer said.
He added that another lawyer of Polonsky Aleksander Sergeyev would go to Cambodia on Thursday.
