MOSCOW, November 13 (Itar-Tass) - Russia and the United States have all capabilities for joint solutions to regional crises, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in a message of greetings to the participants of the conference devoted to a changing perception of Russia in the United States and a changing perception of the United States in Russia in 1933-2013.
Lavrov noted that 80 years ago, on November 16, 1933, “The line was drawn under a difficult period of our common history, but a new stage was also opened in the cooperation between the two great powers, which play a very important role in world development.” “The principles of interstate dialogue laid down then on the basis of non-interference in home affairs and mutual respect of sovereignty helped in the next years to find common language and settle the most complicated problems, despite acute contradictions and ideological disagreements,” the minister said. “They laid down the foundations of Soviet-U.S. allied relations during World War Two, helped preserve peace during the Cold War and to maintain global stability upon its end,” Lavrov said
“On the basis of a rich historical experience Russia and the United States have all capabilities to broaden cooperation in the struggle against new challenges and threats, settlement of regional crises and conflicts,” the message of greetings runs. “I am convinced that our countries can and should fulfil the available potential to build up trade and investment and develop contacts between people,” the Russian foreign minister noted. “The scientific communities traditional take an important place in this process, the activities of which promote a stronger climate of trust in Russian-U.S. relations,” the Russian foreign minister said.
