Russian foreign minister: Iran-Sextet talks in Geneva managed to avoid subject of sanctions

According to Lavrov, Russia’s position is now acknowledged by all parties to the talks

NEW DELHI, November 10 (Itar-Tass) -The Geneva talks between Iran and the Sextet of international mediators were an extensive discussion of the substance of the matter, with the sides dropping the subject of sanctions, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Sunday after talks with his counterparts from India and China, Salman Khurshid and Wang Yi, respectively.

According to the Russian foreign minister, Russia’s position is now acknowledged by all parties to the talks. “This position is the avoidance of threats and the permanent use of the “leverage” of sanctions bypassing the United Nations Security Council and the discussion of the substance of the matter. This is how it was at the talks.”
