Russian businessman Polonsky accused of grand theft kept in Phnom Penh remand ward

According to head of Russia's counsulate in Cambodia, he has not complained about the prison conditions

BANGKOK, November 12, 12:59 /ITAR-TASS/. Russian businessman Sergei Polonsky, accused of grand theft in Russia, is kept in a pre-trial detention center of Phnom Penh, Cambodia, awaiting a court's decision, head of the consulate department of the Russian Embassy in Cambodia Pavel Seskanov told Itar-Tass.

"He has not complained about the prison conditions. He's awaiting a hearing," Seskanov said.

Earlier it was reported that Cambodian authorities have no intention to delay the extradition of Russian businessman Sergei Polonsky, accused of theft of 5.7 billion rubles (over $170 million) from investigators in a Moscow housing construction project. "Polonsky will be extradited to Russia as soon as possible," the Cambodia Daily quoted police spokesman Lt-Gen Kirt Chantharith as saying.
