TEHRAN, October 21 (Itar-Tass) - Russian Air Force Commander Viktor Bondarev in Iran has discussed bilateral military technical cooperation. Heading the Russian Defense Ministry’s delegation, he arrived in Tehran on Sunday at the invitation of his Iranian counterpart Hassan Shahsafi.
The two senior military officials reached principle agreements on cooperation in training of military pilots and technical maintenance of missile and radar air defense systems and exchange of expert experience, Iranian news agencies reported on Monday.
Delivery of S-300 air defense systems to Iran was not discussed. Commander of the air defense base of Khatam al-Anbiya Farzad Esmayeeli, who participated in the meeting, noted the issue was under the defense ministers' jurisdiction.
Aside from talks in Tehran, the Russian delegation is planned to visit the air defense bases in Mehrabad and Isfahan and Shahid Sattari Aviation University.
