BELGRADE, October 18. (ITAR-TASS). — A powerful explosion took place last night in the city of Kosovska Mitrovica in the northern part of the self-proclaimed Republic of Kosovo. According to local police spokesperson Zeljko Boyich, no one was injured.
Substantial material damage was caused to a cafeteria, which became the immediate target of the attack, as well as a nearby restaurant and bookmaker. Power of the explosive device was not less than a kilogram TNT. Reasons for the attack and the identity of the criminals have not been established yet.
A few days earlier, unidentified persons threw a bomb into the house of the Serbian candidate in the forthcoming local elections on November 3, representing the Independent Liberal Party.
