Naryshkin: European parliaments should pass joint declaration on 100th anniversary of WWI

International public and scientific forum titled “Russia in a Great War” would take place in St. Petersburg on August 1, 2014

MOSCOW, October 15 (Itar-Tass) - Russian State Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin believes that European parliaments should adopt a joint declaration devoted to the First World War (1914-1918).

“I am planning to urge the speakers of European parliaments to pass a joint declaration of the parliaments of European countries on the centenary anniversary of the outbreak of WWI,” Naryshkin told a meeting of an organizing committee in charge of preparations for commemorations of the centenary anniversary of the start of WWI.

Naryshkin said that an international public and scientific forum titled “Russia in a Great War” would take place in St. Petersburg on August 1, 2014. The forum will mark Russia’s return to a community of nations honoring the memory of WWI victims.
