TEHRAN, October 11 (ITAR-TASS). — Gunmen killed five soldiers of the Army of the Guardians of the Islamic Revolution (IRGC) in western Iran. As reported today by Fars news agency, the incident occurred in the area of ​​Banja (province of Kurdistan) near the Iraqi border.

In April 2012, militants of the Party for Free Life of Kurdistan (PJAK) killed four soldiers of IRGC.

In September 2011, the IRGC carried out a mopping up operation in the north-western regions of Iran on the border with Iraq, eliminating squads of Kurdish militants. Then 180 members of PJAK were destroyed. From then, no information on armed incidents in the area has been reported.
