Russia will support any agreement acceptable for both Palestine and Israel - Lavrov

“We proceed from the fact that a really lasting settlement may be reached only on the basis of the United Nations resolutions,” Lavrov said

MOSCOW, October 11 (Itar-Tass) - Russia will support any agreement that will be acceptable for Israel and Palestine, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at the 8th East Asia summit in Brunei.

“I would like to thank U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry for the information about the United States’ efforts over the resumption of the direct Palestinian-Israeli negotiations,” Lavrov said. “Of course, we shall support any agreement that would be acceptable for both parties.”

“We proceed from the fact that a really lasting settlement may be reached only on the basis of the United Nations resolutions, the Madrid principles and the Arab peace initiative,” he stressed. “We are confident that all this is reckoned with in the work which is being done.”
