Moderate quake fixed off Kamchatka’s Commander Islands

There have been no reports about damage or injuries

PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, October 4 (Itar-Tass) - An earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter Scale has been fixed in the Pacific Ocean off the Commander Islands, the Kamchatka branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences’ Geophysical Service reports.

An earthquake shock was fixed at 05:46 local time on Friday, it said. The epicenter was off the Kamchatka Peninsula, between Bering and Medny islands, 77 kilometers away from the settlement of Nikolskoye (Bering Island). The epicenter was at the depth of about 30 kilometers under the seafloor.

There have been no reports about damage or injuries. No tsunami warning was issued, the service said.
