BANGKOK, October 2. (Itar-Tass). - A roadside bomb killed two soldiers on Wednesday in Thailand’s southern province of Yala. Two more soldiers and three civilians were wounded, according to local police reports.
The police added that the bomb exploded when a military car with soldiers was patrolling the area. Several local residents were accidentally wounded with shrapnel.
The police believe that the responsibility for the incident rests with the separatists, waging a guerrilla war in the Muslim south of Thailand. The rebels seek autonomy for the provinces of Yala, Narathiwat and Pattani.
