TEHRAN, October 1. (ITAR-TASS). Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani ordered the government to review the possibility of resuming direct flights between Iran and the United States. This was reported on Tuesday by Mehr news agency.

The news agency quoted advisor to the Iranian president Akbar Torkan as saying that the establishing of direct flights between Tehran and New York would allow "easing the problems of Iranians living in the United States and to visit relatives in Iran from time to time".

At present, the United States is home to about a million immigrants from Iran. Flights between the two countries were interrupted shortly after the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran in 1979.
