Ban Ki-moon stressed the need for a political settlement of the prolonged conflict in that country

UNITED NATIONS, September 28 (Itar-Tass) - UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held a meeting on Friday to discuss the situation in Syria.

The UN Secretary-General stressed the need for a political settlement of the prolonged conflict in that country. Also, Ban and Lavrov considered the effects of the crisis on the other countries in the region, including Lebanon, the UN Secretary-General’s spokesman Martin Nesirky said after the meeting.
