NEW DELHI, September 27. (ITAR-TASS). At least 19 people were killed today as a bus fell in a gorge from a height of over 180 meters in the Sirmur district of the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. According to local police, one more person is in critical condition.
According to preliminary data, the cause of the accident was the faulty technical condition of the bus.
India ranks first in the world by the number of road accident victims. In 2011, accidents on the country’s roads claimed lives of about 140 thousand people; in 2012 the number rose to more than 150 thousand.
