MOSCOW, September 16 (Itar-Tass) - Russia welcomes the new Egyptian leadership’s commitment to resuming the political process in the country, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said after talks with his Egyptian colleague Nabil Fahmy on Monday, September 16.
“It was very important to hear, and this was confirmed during the meeting, that the new leadership of Egypt is committed to resuming the political process aimed at leading the country to the road of sustainable development on the basis of effective functioning of civilian government institutions, economic growth and strengthening of social infrastructure,” the minister said.
“We welcome the efforts to ensure fundamental human rights and freedoms in the country and a proper level of security,” Lavrov said.
