MOSCOW, August 22 (Itar-Tass) - The flow of foreign mercenaries in Syria has reached the number that Iraq had in 2005-2007, Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said on Thursday.

“We voice more concern about active efforts by terrorist groups linked with Al Qaeda,” Lukashevich said.

At the same time, he noted that foreign terrorists could not reverse the situation.

Government troops held own in the battles near Damascus, the Russian diplomat said.
