Vladimir Putin expresses condolences over Philippines ferry tragedy

According to reports, 217 people are still missing

MOSCOW, August 17 (Itar-Tass) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed condolences to President of the Philippines Benigno Aquino over the passenger ferry tragedy.

Putin in his telegramme asked to convey his condolences to relatives of the victims and wished the injured people soonest recovery.

The ferry on Friday collided with a cargo vessel about a kilometre off the coast in the central Philippines and sank, killing 28 people. According to reports, 217 people are still missing. The navy and the coast guard with support of several cargo vessels continue the search operation.
