MOSCOW, August 15 (Itar-Tass) - Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet with President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the Group of Twenty summit in St Petersburg on September 5 - September 6, Nikolai Patrushev, the secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, said at the Ninth Round of Russia-China Strategic Security Consultations with member of the State Council of the PRC Jang Jiechi.
Patrushev recalled that a visit of the Chinese leader to Russia in March “gave a fresh strong impetus to Russian-Chinese relations.” “The dialogue at the summit level will be continued at the meeting of our leaders on the sidelines of the Group of Twenty summit in St Petersburg on September 5-6,” Patrushev said.
Jiechi stressed that a number of important arrangements were made by Putin and Jinping at the meeting in March, and their gradual implementation resulted in “real advance” of Russian-Chinese relations. “In the development of a complicated international economic situation we hope very much that as a result of the Petersburg summit the sides will be able to achieve a real progress in increasing economic growth and creating more jobs in the world,” Jiechi aid.
