WASHINGTON, August 9 (Itar-Tass) - A number of documents have been prepared for a next meeting between the president of Russia and the United States, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Friday, opening talks in Washington in the format 2+2.

“We have drafted a number of documents to have them approved at a next stage, when the Russian and U.S. presidents meet,” the Russian diplomat said. “I am speaking about prepared documents - a statement on the development of comprehensive cooperation, a statement on the development of trade and economic ties.”

“We prepared a statement on more active cooperation in counteracting drug threats, an agreement on cooperation among national centres for the reduction of nuclear threats, an agreement on cooperation in the area of nuclear and energy research,” Lavrov noted.

“I would like to stress that we have a serious resource in our joint work, which will make it possible, when realized and formally approved, to build-up cooperation in various spheres,” he said. “Of course, we shall speak about it today.”
