Russian vet watchdog registers Norwegian fish outbreak

MOSCOW, August 9 (Itar-Tass) - An outbreak of infectious salmon anaemia has been registered n Norway, press service of the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) reported on Friday.

“The outbreak has been registered in Nordland (a county in Norway). Rosselkhoznadzor monitors the situation,” press service said.

Earlier, an outbreak was registered in Rivarbukt and Langfjorden on July 19.

This infection affects juvenile salmon and is mainly proinent in fish coming from Denmark, France and Canada.

The infection develops quickly and leads to sudden fish death.
