Airport in capital of Kenya closed over strong fire

The flights are being redirected to Mombasa and Eldoret

PRETORIA, August 7 (Itar-Tass) - The Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, Kenya’s capital, is closed over a strong fire on Wednesday morning, the authority of the republican air harbours reported. The causes for the fire are not reported, there is no information about possible victims.

All departures and landings are cancelled. The flights are being redirected to Mombasa and Eldoret. “The fire embraced a huge territory,” a statement by local Ministry of Internal Affairs says. Images posted on the internet show plumes of smoke and fire wallowing up from international waiting room.
