ROME, August 6 (Itar-Tass) - Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu says there is extreme danger of religious extremists on Syrian territory getting hold of chemical weapons.
“As regards the horrible tragedy that happened in Syria everybody should realize what can happen if extremists get hold of chemical weapons that are now on the Syrian territory,” Shoigu told a press conference here at the meeting of the foreign ministers and defense ministers of Russia and Italy in the two-plus-two format.
He said there are many such questions. “Answers should be given to all questions. The sooner this happens the better,” he said.
“I mean Geneva 2 conference and the settlement of questions, including humanitarian aspects which we also discussed today regarding Syria,” the Russian minister said.
