BERLIN, July 25. /ITAR-TASS/. FIFA plans to shift the events of 2022 World Cup in Qatar from January to November. This was reported by German publication Kicker with reference to a source in FIFA management.

FIFA President Sepp Blatter has previously said he would seek the shift of the tournament from summer to winter - it was expected that the World Cup will be held in January 2022, but now the organizers express the desire to move the FIFA event to November.

If the World Cup is held in winter, it will seriously affect the organization of national football leagues’ championships in Europe. As an example, the Russian football premier league will have to introduce significant changes in its calendar of events.

However, as the source reports, the German football league backs the World Cup shift from January to November.
