MADRID, July 14 (Itar-Tass) - Placido Domingo, one of the best-known world opera singers, returned home on Saturday after spending five days in hospital. The tenor posted a picture of himself getting into a car on his official Twitter account. “Going home,” the Spaniard tweeted in English and Spanish.

Placido Domingo was hospitalized in Madrid on July 8 because of a blood clot in his lung. He said he had gotten away with a fright thanks to urgent medical intervention.

On doctors’ recommendations, the Royal Opera Theatre has cancelled Domingo’s participation in five performances of the “Il Postino” opera and in a symphony orchestra charitable concert in support of Madrid’s candidacy for the right to host the 2020 Summer Olympic Games.

Domingo, 72, has sung 142 different roles.
