UNITED NATIONS, July 11 (Itar-Tass) - The United Nations has accepted the Syrian government’s invitation to visit Damascus with a view to completing the consultations on the modalities of cooperation required for the proper, safe and efficient conduct of the United Nations Mission to Investigate Allegations of the Use of Chemical Weapons in the Syrian Arab Republic, Martin Nesirky, Spokesperson for the Secretary-General, said on Wednesday.

According to Nesirky, Angela Kane, the United Nations High Representative for Disarmament Affairs, and Professor Ake Sellstrom, the Head of the United Nations Mission to Investigate Allegations of the Use of Chemical Weapons in the Syrian Arab Republic, were invited for consultations in Damascus.

“The High Representative for Disarmament Affairs, Ms. Angela Kane, and Professor Sellstr·m, have agreed to accept the Government of the Syrian Arab Republic’s invitation to visit Damascus with a view to completing the consultations on the modalities of cooperation required for the proper, safe and efficient conduct of the United Nations Mission to Investigate Allegations of the Use of Chemical Weapons in the Syrian Arab Republic,” he said.
