Passenger bus falls from cliff in Peru, 19 people killed

The mayor of one of the municipalities of the province of Yauyos has been seriously injured

BOGOTA, July 2. /ITAR-TASS /. A passenger bus fell into a 200-meter ravine in northern Peru, 200 km from Lima. As reported on Monday by local media, in result of the accident 19 people were killed and 15 injured. Only in the cabin of the vehicle were 55 passengers. The mayor of one of the municipalities of the province of Yauyos has been seriously injured.

Police sources did not rule out that the number of victims could rise. The rescue operation is difficult due to the location of the accident scene in a remote mountainous area. The causes of the tragedy are being investigated.
