US court turns down appeal of Russian pilot Konstantin Yaroshenko

Yaroshenko is sentenced to 20 years in prison for an attempt to smuggle a large batch of drugs to the United States

NEW YORK, June 11 (Itar-Tass) - The Court of Appeals of the Second Federal District of New York has rejected an appeal of Russian pilot Konstantin Yaroshenko, sentenced to 20 years in prison for an attempt to smuggle a large batch of drugs to the United States, upholding the sentence.

“The documents of the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office on the illegal actions in the country of US secret service agents against the Russian who was arrested in Liberia on 28 May 2010 and then deported to the United States, were not taken into account,” the convicted pilot’s lawyer Alexei Tarasov told Itar-Tass on Monday.
