MOSCOW, June 6 (Itar-Tass) - Around 300 tonnes of cocaine are trafficked through Brazil to Europe and Russia, Russian Federal Drug Control Service chief Viktor Ivanov told reporters on Thursday.
Cocaine aggressively attacks Brazil. “Every year over 300 tonnes of cocaine flows there, these are gigantic volumes. Some 30 tonnes of cocaine are seized by law enforcement services, while the rest is trafficked to Europe, including Russia.”
He noted that as a result of the joint operation a drug trafficking ring was dismantled in Brazil. “Therefore we have plans for joint work,” Ivanov said.
Cocaine is trafficked to Brazil from Colombia, Bolivia and Peru, said Cesar Luis Suoza, general coordinator of anti-drug policy at the Federal Police Department of Brazil.
“Unfortunately, Brazil is one of the countries that supplies cocaine. We try to detain drug traffickers. To fight drug trafficking more effectively, Russian and Brazilian police cooperate very closely and detain drug dealers both in Brazil and in Russia,” he said.
