MOSCOW, June 4 (Itar-Tass) - Russian tour operators noted only few refusals from the tourist tours in the Czech Republic affected in the flood, the Russian Union of the Tourist Industry said on Tuesday.
The union noted that “the panic among Russian tourists over the tourist trips in the country did not become massive.” “On Monday, the tour operators reported only few refusals from already bought tours, several tourists decided to delay their vacations, but most Russians have just made the calls in the tourist company to check the situation,” the Russian Union of the Tourist Industry added.
The tour operators noted that the situation is routine in the streets in Prague, as many tourists are walking there, all cafes and restaurants are open. According to their reports, several Prague neighbourhoods and low sections of the streets in the centre of the city are flooded, but the flood did not affect sharply the life in Prague. Instead of closed metro stations additional tramways and buses were provided, the airport and the railway station work in the routine mode.
The union noted that there is no threat for the tourists in the Czech Republic, the airplanes are still flying to Prague. The Russian Foreign Ministry does not make any warnings that the trips of tourists in this direction are undesirable.
The heavy rains that started in the Czech Republic last Friday triggered a flood. The highest third level of danger was announced in 40 cities of the country, including the capital. Six people died in the flood. According to the local police, they died under the debris of a washed-out residential house. Ten metro stations are closed over a water level rise in Prague. The traffic was halted on ten highways all over the Czech Republic, the railway traffic is disrupted in several districts. The situation with a coming flood also affected the tourists. Pleasure boat trips on the Vltava River were cancelled, the Charles Bridge was closed, the excursions became impossible to almost completely flooded Cesky Krumlov, which is very popular among the tourists.
The emergency headquarters reported that the flood in the Czech capital will reach its peak on Tuesday over the flood from the Berounka River. The flood is expected to subside only on Wednesday, from this day the weathermen promise better weather forecasts.
