Russian investigators preparing query over case of Russian boy wounded on Crete

“We’ll press forward for getting familiarized with the course of investigation of that crime,” Markin said

MOSCOW, May 19 (Itar-Tass) - Russia’s Investigations Committee is preparing a query to Greece over the investigation of a stabbing attack on the Russian child Nikita Onishchenko at a five-star hotel on the island of Crete where he was spending a vacation with his mother and a younger brother.

“We’ll insist that we should be engaged in this investigation, too,” Vladimir Markin, an official spokesman of the Investigations Committee said Sunday night as he spoke live on the Zheleznye Ledi /Iron Ladies/ show of the NTV channel. “We’re now preparing a query to Greece concerning legal assistance to the investigation underway there.”

“We’ll press forward for getting familiarized with the course of investigation of that crime,” Markin said.

The Investigations Committee has instituted a criminal case over the criminal attack on the eleven-year-boy in Crete. The charges feature robbery and an assassination attempt.

“The criminal case was opened here for the purposes of defending the rights of a small Russian citizen and bringing to account a person responsible for the heinous offense against the Russian boy,” Markin said earlier.

An animator hired by the hotel, a national of the Netherlands, stole the boy’s notebook and mobile phone. To conceal his crime, the stabbed the boy twenty times with a knife.

The relatives found the heavily bleeding boy at a car parking in the small hours of May 15. Nikita is currently staying at hospital and the physicians describe his bodily condition as a heavy one.

The criminal who fled from the spot of crime was detained by Greek policemen somewhat later.

According to Markin, if the malefactor is relieved of criminal responsibility in Greece, the Investigations Committee will take all the necessary steps to bring the Dutch national to trial under the Russian laws for making an assassination attempt on a Russian child.
