NAZRAN, May 19 (Itar-Tass) - Leila Albogachiyeva, the first female mountain climber in the history of the North Caucasian region of Ingushetia, has completed a climb to the top of Mount Everest, which is 8,848 meters high, an official spokesperson for the government of Ingushetia told Itar-Tass.

This was the second time she ascended to Everest but this ascent was a solo. Her route traversed the Nepalese slope of the world’s highest mountain.

Leila brought the flag of the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi to Everest. It was handed to her by officials of the Russian Olympic Committee on the eve of her departure from Moscow.

She made the first climb to Everest as a member of a team of climbers from Ingushetia in 2012. Their route crossed the northern - Tibetan - slope.

The route along the Nepalese slope is widely considered to be more difficult

Leila has thus become Russia’s first Russia climber to conquer Everest both from the north and from the south, the Ingushetian government spokesperson said.
