Russian combat vessel to make first visit to Israel

This will be the first visit by Russia’s Navy to Israel

MOSCOW, April 30 (Itar-Tass) - Black Sea Fleet’s combat vessel will make the first visit to Israel, a Russian Navy spokesman told Itar-Tass on Tuesday.

“On May 1-3 the Azov large landing ship [its crew took part in opening a bust to Admiral Fyodor Ushakov in the Italian port of Messina] will call at the Israeli port of Haifa. The ship’s visit is timed to the 68th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Veterans of Israeli organisations put forth such initiative ahead of Victory Day,” the spokesman said.

“This will be the first visit by Russia’s Navy to Israel,” he added.
