MOSCOW, April 29 (Itar-Tass) - The Russian Foreign Ministry is taking measures to clarify the situation with a Russian plane that came under threat over Syria, Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said.

“At 04:55 Moscow time on April 29, when entering Syria’s airspace the crew of a plane belonging to Russia’s NordWind Airlines, en route from Sharm el-Sheikh to Kazan, registered armed hostilities on the ground, which in their opinion could endanger the aircraft and the 159 passengers aboard,” Lukashevich told ITAR-TASS.

The Foreign Ministry is “taking urgent measures to clarify all the circumstances of this situation, including in contact with the Syrian authorities.”

Russia’s Federal Agency for Air Transportation also confirmed that the plane had been endangered in the sky over Syria.
