Russia, EU might sign agreement on easier visa regime already this June

Entry visas will be cancelled for holder of biometric service passports and for crews of civil aircraft and ships

VIENNA, April 26 (Itar-Tass) – Russia and the European Union might sign an updated edition of an agreement simplifying visa issuance procedures already this June, Russian ambassador at large Anvar Azimov told journalists on the sidelines of the OSCE meeting on the freedom of movement on Friday.

“We are practically though with the work with our partners on signing a modernized edition of the 2006 agreement that cancels entry visas for holder of biometric service passports and for crews of civil aircraft and ships,” he said.

Apart from that, visa issuance procedures will be simplified for some other categories of populations. “Representatives from business circles and journalists will be eligible to multiple visas for a term of five years,” Azimov noted. “Moreover, the visa regime will be eased as far as scientific, student and cultural exchanges are concerned.” The same, he added, will be applicable to representatives of civil society.
