MINSK, April 23 (Itar-Tass) – Russia will create an airbase in Belarus in 2015, Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu said at a meeting with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko here on Tuesday.
“We begin to consider the plans to form a Russian airbase with airplanes and fighters here,” Shoigu said. He said with hope that “an aviation regiment will be formed already” in 2015. In his words, Russia is also planning to form an aviation commandant’s office in Belarus in 2013 and will deliver the first combat duty formation of the fighters.
