MOSCOW, April 16 (Itar-Tass) – Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a telegram of condolences to U.S. President Barack Obama in connection with the act of terror in Boston. Putin underlined that "the Russian Federation will be ready, if necessary, to provide assistance in connection with the U.S. authorities' investigation," the Kremlin press service reported on Tuesday.

Putin denounced this "barbaric crime," expressing confidence that "the fight against terrorism requires active coordination of the efforts of the whole global community."

Two explosions ripped through central Boston on Monday not far from the finish line of the international marathon, the oldest and one of the most prestigious races in the world.

Three persons were killed, including an eight-year-old child, and more than 140 people were injured.
