RF donates $1 mil to Red Cross for humanitarian operations in Syria

The Russian Foreign Ministry once again recalled the necessity to stop suffering of the Syrian people as soon as possible

MOSCOW, April 5 (Itar-Tass) - Russia has made a regular contribution of one million U.S. dollars to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) for “financing humanitarian operations in Syria”, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported on Friday.

“We highly appreciate the Committee’s activity in that country, its impartiality and neutrality towards all the parties involved in the Syrian armed conflict,” the ministry reports. “During the entire period of the Syrian crisis Russia lends support to ICRC activities in rendering humanitarian assistance to civilian population in Syria.”

The Russian Foreign Ministry once again recalled the necessity to stop suffering of the Syrian people as soon as possible and to start political settlement of the current situation the parameters of which must be established by the warring sides.”
