Catholic and Protestant communities in Moscow mark Easter

Orthodox Christians will mark Easter on May 5

MOSCOW, March 31 (Itar-Tass) – Western Christians are marking Easter or Christ’s Resurrection this Sunday. Catholics, Lutherans and other Protestant confessions will celebrate Easter in Russia.

In Moscow, liturgies are being held in the Catholic Church of St. Ludwig and the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception of the Holy Virgin Mary, the Lutheran Church of Peter and Paul, the Anglican Church of St. Andrew as well as in Protestant prayer halls. According to statistics provided by various confessions, Russia has 220 Catholic parishes and about 5,000 Protestant communities.

Archbishop Paolo Pezzi, the head of the Moscow Catholic archdiocese, will lead the celebrations at the Catholic Church on Malaya Gruzinskaya Street.
