MOSCOW, March 14 (Itar-Tass) – A Russian rapid response naval force in the Mediterranean Sea will cooperate with the military fleets in other countries, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee for Defence and Security Viktor Ozerov said on Thursday.

“A Russian rapid response naval force in the Mediterranean Sea will act according to the norms of the international law strictly observed. The Russian naval force will cooperate with the fleets of other countries in anti-piracy and anti-terrorism operations,” Ozerov said at a meeting with the military attaches of the foreign countries in Moscow.

According to him, the numerical strength of this naval force will make 6–10 warships. The Russian senator noted that the naval exercises of the Russian Baltic, Northern and Black Sea Fleets were carried out in the Baltic, North and Black Seas, respectively, in January 2013 as part of the creation of this Russian rapid response naval force.
