CARACAS, March 6 (Itar-Tass) - Following the tragic news about the death of President Hugo Chavez of Venezuela, the Bolivarian Revolutionary Forces guarantee the safety of all citizens of the Republic, Defence Minister Diego Molero stated on Tuesday in a live broadcast on all national TV channels.
Molero called on the co-citizens to keep unity, pointing out that units of the Armed Forces "have been deployed throughout the country's territory to guarantee stability and national sovereignty".
"Vice-President Nicolas Maduro, National Assembly President Diosdado Cabello, and the leaders of all branches of power, count on the Armed Forces which consist of representatives of the people and are serving the people. We share the anguish of all Venezuelans," the Minister stated. He said the Armed Forces "will be the guarantor of the Constitution and legislation".
"We are calling on everyone to maintain unity, beginning with ourselves, tranquility and mutual understanding," Molero said. "From this moment onwards, we are bound to abide by the Constitution for the good of our Motherland".
