MOSCOW, February 26 (Itar-Tass) - An air balloon which crashed in Egypt presumably had no tourists from Russia on board, spokeswoman for the Russian Federal Tourism Agency Irina Shchegolkova told Itar-Tass with reference to a local travel agency.
According to the local travel agent, no Russian tourists were apparently on board, the spokeswoman said. The Russian Consulate has not yet confirmed the information, she added.
Nineteen tourists were killed as a result of the crash of the air balloon in Luxor in the south of Egypt on Tuesday. Local mass media outlets said the tragedy occurred at dawn when the air balloon with 21 people on board was flying above the ancient Egyptian city. The air balloon caught fire at the altitude of 300 meters. The causes of the fire were not immediately known.
