The Russian head of state expressed sympathy to the families and friends of the victims and wished speedy recovery to the injured

MOSCOW, February 2 (Itar-Tass) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed condolences to Mexico’s President Enrique Pe·a Nieto in connection with the blast in the administrative building of the State Oil Company "Pemex" in Mexico City, which resulted in a large number of casualties.

"The Russian head of state expressed sympathy to the families and friends of the victims and wished speedy recovery to the injured," the Kremlin’s press-service said.

According to some data, the explosion left 25 people killed and 101 others injured, Mexico's Interior Minister Miguel Angel Chong said. He confirmed that there is no official version of the causes of the tragedy.

A powerful explosion rocked the ground floor of a high-rise building owned by a state-owned company. According to experts, there could be more than 3,500 people inside at the moment. President Pe·a Nieto visited the scene to call for "avoiding insinuations about the cause of the explosion" and for waiting for the results of the investigation.
