HONG KONG, January 24 (Itar-Tass) –- Hong Kong’s Financial Secretary John Tsang has hailed Itar-Tass plans to build up its presence in the sphere of mass media and information in China.

He said it Thursday at a meeting with the visiting Itar-Tass Director General, Sergei Mikhailov.

“We’re going to build up our informational presence in China in general, including Hong Kong,” Mikhailov said. “We’ll be developing actively the coverage of the economy and increase the number of financial reports from this region.”

In the course of the conversation, Tsang informed Mikhailov on the prospects of this special administrative region of China and told him about the large infrastructural projects being implemented here.

Mikhailov described Tsang as “a great friend of Russia” and recalled that Tsang has visited the Russian Federation on quite a number of occasions in recent years.

For instance, Tsang stood at the head of Hong Kong’s delegation at the summit conference of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum /APEC/ in Vladivostok in September 2012.
