MOSCOW, January 6 (Itar-Tass) — Russian President Vladimir Putin met with French actor Gerard Depardieu in Russia's Black Sea resort of Sochi, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed this information to Itar-Tass on Sunday.

"On the occasion of his stay in Russia, Depardieu was handed over Russian passport," he said. "There was a brief meeting between the president and Depardieu. The actor was on a private visit to Russia," Peskov said.

Putin and Depardieu discussed several issues related to the French-Russian film, where Gerard Depardieu played Russian monk Grigory Rasputin, to be released in Russia in the future.

"The actor also told about his career plans," Peskov added.
