EU Court lifts sanctions against Petr Aven, Mikhail Fridman

The EU Council can challenge these rulings

LUXEMBOURG, April 10. /TASS/. The European General Court satisfied the claims of businessmen Petr Aven and Mikhail Fridman against the EU Council for lifting EU sanctions against them, the court's representative Fernando Pessoa announced in court.

According to the court's decision, the EU Court decided to satisfy the claims of Petr Aven and Mikhail Fridman against the EU Council and cancel the personal sanctions against them. The EU Council will pay the parties' legal costs.

The EU Council can challenge these rulings. The claims were filed with the European General Court on May 22 and 23, 2022, respectively.

At the same time, the statement noted, that "the General Court upholds the requests of Petr Aven and Mikhail Fridman and annuls both the initial acts and the acts maintaining the lists of restrictive measures for the period from 28 February 2022 to 15 March 2023." Thus, the court’s verdicts do not automatically remove both businessmen from the EU blacklists.
